Searching for Relief

A week full of ups and downs: tooth pain leads to a trip to Germany, while new experiences in Denmark give me strength.

Searching for Relief 6. April 2025

This week started anything but easy.

On Monday, Michael and I drove to Schleswig - 400 kilometers one way. That's not something you just do on a whim. But my tooth pain kept getting worse, and I simply didn't know what else to do.

In Denmark, I haven't found a dentist who could really help me. Appointments are hard to come by, the uncertainty is great, and so the only option was to go back to Germany.

The dentist in Schleswig opened the crown and placed a medicinal filling - in hopes of providing relief.

But instead of getting better, it got worse. The pain is more intense than ever, and right now all I can do is wait and see what happens next. I'm tired of the pain, frustrated by all the back and forth, and it's costing me not just energy, but also time that I actually need for other things.

On top of that, so much is happening right now: school, training, new tasks, new people - and I want to do right by everyone. But with this tooth pain, it's like a constant shadow hanging over my everyday life.

Still, I'm grateful that Michael is so patient and loving by my side. I couldn't have made that drive without him.

On Thursday, we had another event in Skagen - this time something really special: we were at a company and learned how to braid ropes together. It was about building nets - an ancient craft that truly impressed me. It was wonderful to see it live and understand with my own hands how much knowledge and skill goes into it.

Afterwards, we had coffee together - and it was simply a really lovely time with the other guides.

And on Friday, Michael and I were back at the nursing home singing. These little concerts have really grown close to our hearts - they give something not just to the people there, but to us too.

The weeks are full, yes. There's always something going on. But it doesn't feel stressful - more like a river, where each day brings something with it. And I'm grateful that I'm right in the middle of it.

With this tooth pain, it's like a constant shadow hanging over my everyday life.
