A Friendship in Denmark 6. August 2024
There are these special people in life without whom you can't imagine your everyday anymore.
Today I want to tell you about my wonderful friend Danni and our shared journey here in Denmark.
What's interesting about our life paths is that we actually only met here in Denmark - in language school, where two Germans encountered each other who had both been living in this wonderful country for about the same length of time and had the same language level.
Although we've only known each other for just under a year and a half, it feels like we've been friends for much longer. Some connections form quickly and deeply.
And then we didn't just choose the same path academically, but professionally too...
When the morning was still sleeping, we were on our way to training in Skagen...
The early morning hours have something magical about them - especially when you share them with the right person. During our training time, Danni and I drove to Skagen countless times in the early morning or late evening. These drives were more than just ways to get from A to B - they were precious shared time.
Experiencing the Danish landscape in the first light of day while having deep conversations or simply enjoying the silence - these are moments that burn themselves into your memory forever.
Hours of driving create space for conversations that really matter. About moving to Denmark, about dreams and fears, about the challenges of training - nothing went unspoken. These deep conversations and the time we spent together were an important part of our friendship.
This kind of connection, where you feel understood and held, is rare and valuable.
The training time was beautiful, but also incredibly intense.
When your head is so full that no more thoughts fit inside - exams, new knowledge, high expectations - you realize what a gift a true friend is.
In exactly these overwhelming moments, it became clear how precious it is to have someone who is simply there.
Someone you can share the heavy times with.
Life always writes new chapters.
The training is finished. We've taken this hurdle.
After a quarter year, we now work separately, have different working hours and new challenges.
Everyday life has changed, but the friendship has remained.
It's beautiful to see how true connections can adapt to new circumstances without losing their depth.
Looking back, it becomes clear: Finding such a wonderful friend as Danni here in Denmark is a real gift. This shared time - with all its ups and downs, the learning and laughing - has shaped and enriched me.
It's these friendships that turn heavy times into beautiful memories and turn challenges into shared adventures.
Dear Danni, if you read this: Thank you for everything! For the early morning drives, the late-night conversations, for your support and for simply being there.
Our friendship means the world to me.
Sometimes it's worth pausing and being grateful for the people who enrich your life.
These friendships are what turn life in a foreign country into a true home.
