A Wonderful Weekend with Friends and Moving Boxes November 3, 2023
What a wonderful long weekend with Susanne and Peter!
On Thursday we picked up our rental truck, and our neighbor Andy helped us load it. Peter was there after work too, and by 9:00 PM everything was done. Cabinets, chests, dressers, chairs, suitcases and boxes, musical instruments and so much more were loaded in. The bus was packed all the way to the roof. We took Friday to rest, and on Saturday morning we left at 4:00 AM. Heading north.
Peter with Michael in the truck and me with Susanne in our bus. It was quite an adventure! We had so much fun just driving. With a few breaks, we arrived at our home at 5:00 PM that evening. Since I'd already done all my shopping the week before, I was able to put together something nice for dinner and we really enjoyed the evening.
The next morning the guys unloaded the truck and bus while Susanne and I started cleaning and unpacking everything. Those two are real powerhouses! And it was fantastic — we got everything done really quickly. By afternoon we were able to go out and explore our new home. We experienced so much, visited Skagen, went to Grenen and saw so many things.
On Sunday the men hung up pictures and we accomplished a lot more. But the best part was that we could also relax together, that we had a bit of a vacation. It was a wonderful long weekend. Full of hard work, intense and absolutely beautiful.
I can hardly believe how much we accomplished! Our Danish home is taking shape more and more — with each piece of furniture, with each picture on the wall it feels more like us. The friendship we share with Susanne and Peter is priceless. Moving with friends is something truly special — you share not just the work, but also the joy of creating a new home.
Tonight I'm sitting on our sofa, which has finally found its place, looking back on the weekend. The sore muscles remind me of all the boxes and furniture we hauled, but my heart is full of gratitude. For friends who help us. For a new home that welcomes us. For the adventure we dared to take.
And as the autumn wind whistles around the house outside, I know: I will be happy here!
