A New Year Begins 1 January 2025
It's the first of January - and we have quite a long, intense year behind us.
So much has happened. Good things and difficult ones. We lost two beloved animals who accompanied us for many years. Saying goodbye to Mieze and Epi has left deep marks on our hearts.
But we've also found new friendships. We've discovered who from our old life in Germany wants to continue this journey with us - and who has quietly said goodbye. That's part of it too, I suppose.
We got to experience so much that was new. Gathering impressions, growing, marveling, learning. This year was one big rollercoaster - an incredible year, full of twists and emotions.
Yesterday evening we said goodbye to the year quietly and with feeling. At 6 pm we watched our new King's New Year's address on television - a beautiful moment. After that, we had a good meal, simple and heartfelt - and spent a New Year's Eve that did us good.
At midnight we heard the bells from Copenhagen. And then we jumped down the stairs together with a glass of alcohol-free champagne - hope in our hearts.
Hope that this new year will be kind to us.
We're curious about everything that's to come. And we wish that some of our dreams will come true. Maybe not all of them. But the most important ones.
May this new year meet us with warmth, courage, and quiet wonders - and remind us that every fresh start can also be a small piece of healing.
