A Special Birthday Gift May 28, 2023
Last week we had something very special to celebrate: Dorte's birthday! Since we'd learned the traditional Danish birthday song in our Danish course, we came up with a creative idea. We decided to surprise Dorte with a very special version of the song.
Each of us recorded our own voice with our phone and sent the recording to Michael. He took on the technical challenge and combined all the individual voice tracks into one harmonious whole. But that wasn't all—he created a beautiful video from it, incorporating pictures of all of us and of Denmark.
The result was overwhelming! Dorte was absolutely thrilled with our musical gift. It wasn't just a lovely surprise for her, but it also brought us together even more as a group. These kinds of shared projects really do bring people closer.
That's why we're all the more sorry that our course is coming to an end soon. Our early Sankt Hans celebration on Monday, June 19th, will unfortunately be our last gathering together. We won't start again until September...
But until then, we still have our celebration ahead of us, and the memory of our shared birthday song will surely stay with us for a long time. It's beautiful to see how much more a language course can become—a community of people who share a passion for Denmark.
