Between Two Homes

A report about the exhausting and at the same time wonderful journey between two homes across 1100 km. The author shares her experiences with moving in, visits, and the special experience of living in two houses.

Between Two Homes October 8, 2023

This morning we drove from one home to the other. 1100 km.

We had a wonderful week there. We cleaned everything thoroughly, organized everything we'd brought with us, unpacked the boxes to take back to Germany and refill them.

We had a visit from my cousin and her husband, saw the sights and spent time by the sea. We took it easy and still managed to get a lot done.

We bought a sofa, had it delivered and assembled, and we bought a new bed that's already set up too. And we've organized countless little things.

Moving across 1100 km is no small feat. It's hard work. But it's wonderful.

The drive back today was long, but my head is still full of impressions and plans for the next steps. Having two homes means double the work, but also double the joy. When I close my eyes, I can still hear the sound of the sea and feel the salty breeze on my skin.

Soon we'll go back again, with more boxes and more plans. Piece by piece, the house is becoming our home.

Having two homes means double the work, but also double the joy.
