Season Kick-off in Skagen

Winter hibernation is over: A special kick-off with the Guides of the North at Kai 9 in Skagen - full of reunions, culinary highlights, and our heartfelt guides' song.

From cherry cake, vitamins, and our song ...

It's official: winter hibernation is over! When the "Guides of the North" gather at Kai 9 in Skagen, a new chapter begins. For me, this kick-off was extra special - last year I was there as a freshly minted tour guide, and now I've been a permanent part of the team for a year. What a difference that makes!

A huge hello and a symphony of languages It was a wonderful reunion. I'd already seen some colleagues at the winter training sessions, but others who only live here seasonally or come from farther away, I was seeing for the first time again today. It was a bustling, heartfelt chaos. With so many people in one place and switching between languages, it's easy to get caught up chatting in one corner and accidentally miss greeting someone else. But here's the beautiful part: we all know what it feels like when season energy takes hold!

Culinarily, we were well taken care of: At Kai 9 there were hearty open sandwiches with ham, cheese, or chicken (almost as good as from Munch the butcher!). And at the Color Hotel: A grand finale with fantastic cherry cake, which apparently also had hazelnut flour in the mix - a wonderful combination crowned with the obligatory dollop of crème fraîche.

And of course there was the fresh fruit. It sounds simple, but the fruit buffet at the Color Hotel inspired me sustainably last year: cut fruit gets eaten. When it's all prepared and ready to go, the craving for vitamins wins out over our own laziness to grab a knife. Since then, a prepared fruit bowl has been my household standard - healthy and uncomplicated!

But what touches me deeply every single time is our guides' song. It's a special moment when we all sing it together. You don't just hear it, you really experience it - and that feeling of being part of a close-knit community before we all head out on our own tours again. A heartfelt thank you goes to Kathleen, who always reliably provides us with the lyrics so we can all sing along with confidence!

A wonderful day like this doesn't happen by itself. That's why I want to give a huge thank you to Karen, Line, and Nikolaj. Thank you so much for organizing this so beautifully for us! It feels good to know that you'll be standing firmly by our side again this season and supporting us.

That so many of you told me today that you follow my blog made me incredibly happy. This post today is dedicated to all of you! It was a kick-off full of energy and warmth. Now I'm looking forward to starting the new season with all of you by my side, so that together we can inspire many guests to fall in love with our Skagen!

That feeling of being part of a close-knit community before we all head out on our own tours again.

💡 Fruit bowl as a healthy habit
