Next Steps Towards Our Dream House July 17, 2023
Things are slowly gaining momentum! Today I had a detailed conversation with our real estate agent about the house on the east coast. She was really very cooperative and had an important tip for us: since we're German and don't speak Danish, we absolutely should hire a lawyer.
I think that's genuinely a great idea. Of course it costs a bit extra, but compared to the overall investment, it's not a deal breaker. Better to be safe than sorry, especially when it comes to contracts in a foreign language!
In the coming days, we'll receive detailed documents from the seller – inspection reports on the house and all other relevant paperwork. I'm really curious to see what comes of it and of course I'm hoping there are no nasty surprises waiting for us.
At the same time, I'm now taking care of bridge financing. This became necessary because Michael's family home hasn't sold yet. We'd actually hoped the timing of that sale would align better with our purchase, but that's life – things rarely go according to plan.
And now Plan B comes into play – or is it already Plan C? We've decided to put my house on the market at the same time. That wasn't really the original plan, but it now seems like the smartest option to give us more financial flexibility.
The next few weeks will certainly be hectic with two houses on the market and one in the buying process. But I'm confident we'll manage it. Our dream house on the east coast is definitely worth it!
